Melvin Sizemore gains Second State Championship

Sept., 2012

MelvinMelvin Sizemore, from Walker Machinery Co.’s Charleston Parts Department, was enjoying the Labor Day weekend at the WV State IBO (International Bowhunting Organization) Archery Tournament, in Huntington, where he was able to capture his 2nd State Championship, in a row.
In addition to his, 2011 and 2012 State Championships, Sizemore was also able to capture the 2012 WV Triple Crown Championship, and finished in Fourth Place in the National Triple Crown, in Erie PA.
Performance can only be enhanced by great quality in equipment.
For nine tournaments Sizemore shot the same arrow (# 3 arrow) with the same fletch all year, including practice. You may be wondering why his # 3? Because his #1 & #2 arrows got shafted in practice.
“The Vane Tec 2.3 s.s vanes attached to a Gold Tip Pro 22 series arrow is by far the toughest combination I have found,” he said, “regardless if you have a pass through or are just getting knocked around in the target, the vanes hold their true form and the arrow stays straight.”
Sizemore is sponsored by: Tru-Ball Release, Classic Archery Products, Gold Tip Arrows, Vane Tec vanes, Trophy Taker arrow rest, Shrewd Archery Products and

LAYOFFS AND CLOSURES HURT MORE THAN JUST ALPHA

We have a responsibility to the coal community.

Img 2931Sept. 15, Walker Machinery Co. hosted a publicity event promoting Robin Holstein for House of Delegates, at Walker's soccer field, in Belle.

BELLE  - State House of Delegates Candidate Robin Holstein released the following statement regarding the Alpha Natural Resources’ closing of mines and layoff of 1,200 employes companywide:

“The Struggling coal industry should not be further hampered by Legislators with the mindset that coal is an enemy of our way of life.”

“The coal community has enough to manage with the struggling global economy, low natural gas prices, and low demand. Add to that the EPA’s now you have it, now you don’t permitting process, requiring thousands of dollars in legal filings to sort out, and it’s no wonder they feel under siege.”

Img 2925“Today, I spent close to an hour in the company of over 300 men and women who’s jobs depend on coal, but don’t directly work for coal companies. These people represent the thousands of jobs and families adversely affected when companies shut down.”

Alpha Natural Resources’ Tuesday announcement it is eliminating 1,200 jobs and closing mines in Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania shocked many in the local area.

“Closing the Alloy surface mine in Boomer won’t just hurt those employees. This will affect suppliers, equipment rental and repair companies, truck drivers, and the local economies.”

“Unfortunately, the mindset against coal doesn’t reside only in Washington, DC. There is plenty of it right here in West Virginia. It is evident in the passing of the West Virginia AlteImg 2932rnative and Renewable Portfolio Act (HB103) in 2009. This bill forces coal-fired power plants to cut coal use by up to twenty-five percent by 2020.”

“The Coal industry and coal based electric generation represent nearly 60% of business taxes paid to West Virginia in 2010. We have a responsibility to support coal and the lives and communities that depend upon it.”

Holstein, a native and resident of Diamond, is a conservative Republican candidate for the West Virginia House of Delegates in the new 36th District. She opened a consulting business in 2005, and holds a degree in Organizational Leadership from Mountain State University. Robin and her husband, Wayne, live in Diamond, near her parents, son, and extended family. She is a member of the Diamond United Methodist Church.
